The project: 

Fitting of a new greenhouse requiring the following works to get it up and running:
1-Exterior landscaping work
2-Engine room
3-Electrical work (connection, connection, etc.)
4-Heating equipment
5-Interior fittings (tables, trays, etc.)
6-Maximus system (precision climate management)
This greenhouse development work will enable Moissonneurs Solidaires to obtain its seedlings earlier in an economical, more practical and sustainable way.

Subject: Operation of the Moissonneurs Solidaires greenhouse.

Mr Gagnon,

In 2006, with the collaboration of Moisson Québec, the Moissonneurs Solidaires project was launched.
A first season produces approximately 220,000 pounds of fresh vegetables intended exclusively for food counters in the region.
Over the years, the project grew, the areas harvested increasing from 6 ha (15 acres) to 20 ha (50 acres) and the annual distribution, to the network of 19 harvests in Quebec, to more or less 800,000 books; during this phase, a second farm and a warehouse were acquired in 2012.
In 2021, we are undertaking a third phase, known as consolidation and development, by acquiring an additional 20 ha (50 acres) of cultivable land, upgrading our vegetable washing facilities and acquiring a greenhouse for planting our vegetables.
As for the 3,000 ft2 (30’ x 100’) greenhouse, we obtained 90% of the financing for the structure ($72,000). As for landscaping ($15,000), it was assumed by Défi Jeunesse Québec.
The next step is to equip the greenhouse and complete its outdoor layout. Inside, a counter system/tables/bins, etc., an irrigation system, a climate management system as well as a heating system must be purchased and installed.
As for the exterior, the development consists of its connection to electricity and water, as well as earthworks on more or less 150,000 sq.ft.
The preliminary cost estimate for this step is $40,500.
The greenhouse was the missing link in the chain; with it, the autonomy and sustainability of Moissonneurs Solidaires are certainly strengthened.
