The request:

 Dear Mr. Gagnon and Fatima,

Hope you are doing well. After a long gap, once again today I am pleased to share with you the completion report (#2):

We take this opportunity to thank the generous donors Marcel and Luce Baril for providing access to clean and affordable water and improving lives of 1,510 marginalized people in rural India. This allows the women, men, and children to enjoy the multiple benefits through water. It has a significant impact on their health, which in turn has a positive influence on their quality of life. Water is available 24/7 in their community. Children can now devote more time to their studies and that parents, especially women, have time to do a better paid work. Through effective community-based approach involving communities at all stages. Committees were guided and supported to participate actively making them to take the ownership of the project where community members become true agents of change. Local contributions were mobilised for the project implementation.
Families in Gopalapuram village used to depend on a private Water purification plant located 3kms away in a neighboring village. Based on the suggestion from an x-village Mayer, Gopalapram council approached Bala Vikasa to request for a Water plant and agreed to follow project rules. Gopalapuram recently became a new Gram panchayath (a village-governing institute in Indian villages). They did not have enough funds to contribute for the construction of a room for the project. In that moment, all the youth in the village seeing  the dire need for purified water, got united and prepared a donation request letter signed by all and approached a local businessman who belongs to the same village but lives in a city. He was touched by the involvement of their village youth and later donated in memory of his father.
All families even though not easy at first to mobilize, later came forward to pay their membership for their community project and made it successful.
I had an opportunity to witness the joy and the inauguration of the project in Gopalapuram. After my talk, entire community celebrated and asked me to share their special thanks to the generous donors in Canada for helping them.
On behalf of Gopalpuram, Akurla and Bharampur villagers, and entire SOPAR-Bala Vikasa team, I thank all the members of the Fondation Coup de Cœur and the generous donors Marcel and Luce for your generosity and partnership.

Sincerely,

Shobha Singareddy
