Mr. Gagnon and Ms. Lahmami,
It is with joy that I am writing to you today because I am bringing good news! The generosity of Mr. Claude Lapointe Lapointe made it possible to carry out 4 projects, 4 beneficiary villages and 1,825 new people have now access to drinking water.
We often hear the phrase "water is life". Well, it couldn't be truer in times of pandemic! Easy access to water allows people to wash their hands more regularly, to have better hygiene and health. As you say so well, access to water is an investment! This is the first step in empowering poor communities to take charge of their life.
The village of Lakshman Nayak Tanda, a village which recently benefited from the construction of a well thanks to your generosity and that of Mr. Claude Lapointe, is a fine example of all this. The inhabitants of this village mainly come from a very low caste tribe. Left to their fate, this village and the surrounding villages suffer from great poverty. A group of women has mobilized over the past year to promote the importance of having a well near their village. They instructed the mayor of the village to facilitate access to water, who then contacted our partner in India.
Here is the testimony of one of these women:
“I have two children. I'm doing my best to keep them healthy, but our living conditions are tough. I spend a good part of my day walking for water. My 6 year old daughter is now coming with me to help me but I would prefer that she could go to school like her brother. We are told that you have to go to school to get out of poverty. But what do we do when we can't even eat and drink well every day?"
On behalf of the villagers who are beneficiaries of Mr. Lapointe's and FCC's projects, I say to you: Thank you, from the bottom of my heart!
Please be assured of our gratitude.
Truly
