Dear Jean and Fatima,
I am writing to offer you a partnership in a high-impact project that will dramatically improve education in the central and western highlands of Guatemala. This project is divided into four parts:
1) The Spark Reading Program will provide professional development for elementary school teachers to become experts in teaching reading.
2) The Learning Notebooks program will provide high quality textbooks for high school students to study math, science, Spanish and social studies. These textbooks will be rented to students for approximately $ 1.50 per month, an amount which will create a fund allowing the replacement of the textbooks once they are worn out.
3) A computer counter will allow, thanks to sessions of 60 to 90 minutes per week, the learning of basic office computer tools (word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, etc.)
4) The Rise Youth Development Program works to eliminate gender inequalities by allowing young girls to go to school, allowing them to be the masters of their own future.
In total, this project will provide a better education system to more than 7 667 students and teachers, at a total cost of $ 871 000.
