The project:


In the three villages of Laxmapur, Enbhura et Sarampalli in India, installation of three water purification systems and construction of the buildings that shelter them. Also, in the village of Mallapur India, digging of a second well and installing an India # 2 hand pump.
The project, with a total cost of $ 33,800.00, will bring drinking water to more than 4,095 beneficiaries.


The request:

Good morning Mr. Gagnon and Mrs. Lahmami,

I hope this letter finds you in good shape and that you have a great summer.

After several months of mobilizing and offering training and support to communities, Bala Vikasa (our Partner in India) recently completed 4 projects funded by the great generosity of Mr. Marcel and Mrs. Luce Baril.
Thanks to their support, 3 complete water purification systems (with building which shelter them) were installed in the villages of Laxmapur, Enbhura and Sarampali and in addition, a second  well urmounted by a manual pump was installed in the village of Mallapur. These communities were in dire need of easy and affordable access to water. These 4 projects will bring clean water to more than 4095 beneficiaries who were facing immense health problems !! On their behalf and on behalf of SOPAR, I extend our sincere thanks to Mr. and Mrs. Baril.

Here is the testimony of Asha (the girl in the center of the last photo attached), collected during the inauguration of the water purification system in her village:

"It's a great day for our village today and everyone is proud to have participated in this project. Our village will now be recognized as a model for other villages in the vicinity. It's also a great day for me and my family. My parents have always told us that we have to study hard to be able to have a good job in life, but because of the excess fluoride in our water, we were often sick and unable to go about our business.
I know now that things will change from now on and that I will be able to go to school regularly to fulfill my dream of becoming a scientist."

The wonderful projects of Mr. Marcel and Mrs. Luce Baril have touched thousands of girls like Asha and their families. These projects will restore their health, allowing them to take control of their future and become autonomous and productive for their society. Is it possible to make a better investment on this planet earth?
