The project:
In the 3 villages of Xesajbin, Cojulya and Pachaj in Guatemala, construction of 3 water tanks, installation of 3 PVC underground water lines over a distance of 18,512 meters from 3 tanks to each of 140 houses, installation of 140 ceramic filters for each house and construction of 140 latrines.
The project, with a total cost of $ 121,600, will provide drinking water to more than 812 beneficiaries.
The request:
Dear Jean and Fatima,
Well yes, me again! First of all, thank you for your multiple partnerships in my many projects in Guatemala.
My new project, still in Guatemala, is to provide drinking water and latrines to over 140 households in 3 villages.
Currently, these three communities suffer from a lack of water in their homes. Women and children must walk between 10 and 20 minutes each way to gather water from small springs or, in the dry season when these springs dry up, must go farther to more distant springs. However, 98% of Guatemalan surface water, is contaminated. A study, the Municipal Govt. paid for, indicates that the new system will supply enough water/person/day, within the range for this climate as determined by the World Health Organization. The communities have sought additional technical and financial help from the Municipality of Santa Apolonia and other government and non-profit organizations, but to date have not received any support.
Attached you will find a complete description of the project.
This important project, with a total cost of $ 121,600, will provide services to more than 812 beneficiaries.
Even if we take advantage of generous grants from multiple Rotary Clubs and Districts as well as the Rotary Foundation, we still miss $ 12,000 to complete our financial package.
Could you advise me as soon as possible if you are interested in this project and if so, confirm the amount you could invest in it?
Thanks again for your constant help.
