Dear Mr. Gagnon and Mrs. Lahmami,

It is with pleasure that I am sending you today the report of two water access projects that have been completed thanks to the support of Mr. Claude Lapointe. It's is concerning a water purification project in the village of Kowtha and a project to drill a well and install a hand pump in the village of Mulastambam Thanda in India. The two projects have a total cost of $ 15,000 and will serve 2 850 beneficiaries.
This is concerning a water purification project in the village of Kowtha and a project to drill a well and install a hand pump in the village of Mulastambam Thanda in India. The two projects have a total cost of $ 15,000 and will serve 2 850 beneficiaries.
I was touched by the pictures of these projects sent to us by our partner in India, Bala Vikasa, and even more by the testimony they shared with us. Let me tell you: The lady on the attached picture is called Jyothi. She is the mother of 3 girls and a boy. Jyothi has been a widow for two years and, because of this, she is not allowed to participate in the social life in her village. In India, old superstitions make people believe that widows are bad luck. Before her husband's death, Jyothi had a hard time making ends meet and now, even more so. It happens regularly that Jyothi asks his children to work or to beg to be able to eat. The groundwater in Kotham village where Jyothi lives is contaminated by an excess of fluoride that makes villagers sick. Too poor to buy purified water sold in bottles, the majority of families in the village drink water that makes them sick.
For Jyothi, this means a lot of expenses for medical visits for her children, not to mention the bone pain she has to endure day after day. The installation of Mr. Lapointe's water purification systems has changed the life of Jyothi. She and her children now have access to purified water and that's not all. Our presence in the village sensitized the villagers on various levels: health, hygiene and even the situation of widows. Some neighbors recently invited Jyothi to join a women's support group set up by our organization. On behalf of Jyothi and his children, please thank Mr. Lapointe warmly for his generosity and sense of solidarity.

Best regards,
