Mr. Gagnon, Ms. Lahmami
My name is Pratap Reddy and I am responsible for the SOPAR Drinking Water Access Program in India. We are preparing in the coming days to inaugurate the water purification system in the village of Fathlapur with 1 975 inhabitants, financed by Mr. Eric Boyko.
I have been working with the people of this village for several months. The committee in place is very active. Mr. Satyaveer is the instigator of the project and is also the chair of the village youth committee. He is a young man who impresses me a lot. He comes from one of the most disadvantaged castes in his village and did not have the chance to finish primary school but he is persevering, hard working and a good leader.
I transcribe here the text he submitted to us with the request for help for his village:
"My name is Satyaveer and I come from Fathlapur, a village of 1 975 residents. We are poor here in Fathlapur. I want to explain something to you: my little sister died 4 years ago. When she was born, she was fragile. She has always been sick for nothing. My parents often did not eat to buy medicine. We know that the water we drink makes us sick, but we can not help but drink it. We do not have the money like the few rich people in the village to buy purified water. My father died last year. Before his death, he told me: "Satyaveer, we deserve more; we have the right to a dignified life. Do what you can to change things.
That's why I am writing today to ask for your help so that we have access to purified water in our village. We will start with that and I think it will be a good start".
I want to thank Mr. Éric Boyko for his generosity. The purification system he has installed in the village of Satyaveer already gives dignity to the people of the village. And in my opinion, this project will drive several other development projects led by the people of Fathlapur.
Best regards,
Pratap Reddy
