What a pleasure for us to see that you introduce us the Beaudoin family who will undertake with us a new humanitarian partnership in India.
Their first project will be the installation of a water filtration system with a capacity of 24000 liters per day in the village of Hasgul, Kamareddy District in India.
Prior to the installation of the water purification system in the remote village of Hasgul, few families in the village were financially capable of purchasing purified water sold by private companies at a cost of $ 0.30 / 20 liters.
Faced with this situation, women members of our development program, as well as village elders and leaders, approached Bala Vikasa (our sister organization in India) to get their support.
The project to install a water purification system in the village of Hasgul was approved following an in-depth needs assessment in the community. The villagers participated in an awareness workshop to understand the purpose of the project, to develop their knowledge related to health and water consumption and to promote the active participation of all. The villagers elected a committee of women and men to be in charge of the project. The members of the committee received training and support from Bala Vikasa throughout the implementation of the project.
The setting up of this committee will ensure the good governance of this project and its sustainability.
The project will have a total cost of $ 14,100 and will provide drinking water to more than 2 575 people.
