For Jean and Fatima,
My name is Daniel André Thibeault, educator and retired social worker. I am now back in Canada since 2005 after spending 45 years in Peru in the world of education and social development, 20 years in the Amazon as an educator and 25 years across the country as a social worker performing multiple projects.
Here, as a member of the Rotary Club of Cap-de-la-Madeleine, I continue to collaborate in the realization of projects in different countries. Canadian friends Yves Lafontaine and his wife went to Peru a few times to visit a Canadian nun sister Françoise Harvey from the Antonian congregation of Mary working in a Peruvian city called Chincha. Two years ago, Chincha's house was closed and the nun Françoise Harvey was returning to Quebec, and her Peruvian companion went to join the Mexican Sisters of the Sagrado Corazón congregation to work at the Santa Maria Foyer. And it was the companion of sister Françoise who asked my friend Yves if he had the possibility of financing a small project to have drinking water permanently.
It is located in the small village of Guadalupe, an agricultural area about 5 kilometers from the town of Ica in southern Peru.
The problem is that they receive drinking water only three days a week because, as an agricultural zone, water is cut off for land irrigation. The orphenage must therefore be supplied by buying the often contaminated water in metallic cylinders distributed by lorries.
The project consists of building 4 columns of cement surmounted by a cement tank of 3x4x2 meters which will be supplied by a water pump.
The tank will be fed during the three days when the water is available to the villagers.
The budget is $ 5,400.00 . With the help of a Canadian friend who visited Peru and who knows the place, $ 1,480 from the Rotary Club of Cap-de-la-Madeleine and other personal friends, so far, we have raised a total of $ 4,400.00 . We would therefore miss $ 1,000.00 to complete the financing.
This friend and his wife will leave the country on January 13 to go to Guadalupe to spend 15 days and to concretize this project with Peruvian friends that I know.
Given the many projects that have been carried out by your Foundation (FCC), I like to believe that a positive response from you will make people happy again in Peru.
Best regards
Daniel A. Thibeault
