Dear Mr. Jean and Mrs. Fatima,
I am Sister Janis Gbiel of the Sisters '' Franciscan Missionaries of Mary'' based in Verdun, Québec. In the spring of 2017, I will undertake a water supply project in the northwestern region of Ghana. It is the village of Karne-Die in the poorest region of the 10 regions of Ghana because it only has a rainy season of about 6 months (May / October) annually. Even during the rainy season, water collected in rivers is contaminated by animals and human activities.
As the villagers have to consume this polluted water, they contract infectious diseases such as diarrhea, cholera, dysentery etc. Add to this the fact that they do not have the means to see a doctor, this situation then becomes a real nightmare for many of them.
The photos sent demonstrate the extreme distress of these women.
Sustainability of the project:
A team of 4 women members of the community will be set up to collect small monthly fees that will be used to maintain and sustain the project.
The total cost of the project is $ 20,000.00 and I appeal to your big heart to get the $ 5,000.00 missing.
The other $ 15,000.00 will be provided by Sr. Lucille Barette of my community who also has this project very close to heart.
Your participation would be a great blessing for the poor of Karne-Die and you will always be welcome to come and see for yourself in the village the relief you will have brought to these people.
I thank you in advance for your generosity, your kindness and your concern.
Sister Janis Gbiel,
