Dear Jean and Fatima,
It has been very nice to meet you both, not once but twice, in the last short while in Cornwall. Thank you for what you are doing to bring about clean water in many projects in many countries.
We spoke briefly about a project my club is taking on in Tamil Nadu State. My club has been part of several projects in southern India over the last 10 to 12 years. This global grant project to restore a watershed is our largest undertaking to date. It is valued at $376,872.00.
There are many positive aspects to the project. They include having a local development bank sign on for over $100,000. Also the commitment of $25,000 District Designated Funds by the District for the host partner club. As well, partnering with National Agro Foundation for technical expertise and implementation. The host community is committing funds too.
Our biggest challenge is to secure 30% or more of the project funding from International partners.
Please find four supporting documents for a more in depth look proposal for Watershed Project.
It is going to be an excellent project that will change lives. I am impressed by Past President Bala of Rotary Club of Madras Coromandel, the host club. He is leading the way with planning, organization and financial commitment.
The Managing Trustee of the National Agro Foundation, the implementing partner, is Rotarian Rajsekar of RC Madras East. His father was the architect of the green revolution for India and a former minister of agriculture. Rajsekar has been a key partner for two projects that my club has undertaken in Uganda including the Mbale Maternity Home. He mobilized his club to be a major funding partner in both. I really like Rajsekar.
I am hoping to raise $30,000 of cash and DDF where ever I can find it.
We will be most grateful for an contribution that Fondation Coup de Coeur may choose to make.
Please contact me with any questions you may have.
With kind best wishes,
Bill
