The project:
The puschase of shelves for the warehouse-workshop
The letter:
January 2nd 2016
Good day M Gagnon,
I am sending you some pictures of our new warehouse-workshop with some of the shelves we had to buy in order to display our products including eyeglasses, frames, lenses, cases etc.
As you know, we operate four missions per year in South America and in Eastern Europe; in each of these missions we receive about three thousand patients who receive a free eye examination by an optometrist and also a pair of glasses adjusted to their view.
In our warehouse, our volunteers have therefore to prepare about 12,000 pairs of eyeglasses per year; the vast majority of these glasses are recycled eyeglasses given to us by the "Lions Clubs" and we need to sort, analyze, label, bag, classify and arrange them in boxes that will be used for a mission.
The beautiful and moving testimony that you have sent us last year by Michaëlle de Verteuil who distributed reading glasses to her Haitian friends reminds us of our humanitarian similar experiences of each mission; patients who came to the world with extreme myopia, considered blind, who return to normal vision instantly with simple vision glasses put in front of their eyes: they found not only the view but also LIFE! When we say: "We get more by giving than by receiving", that`s when we realize that it is so true!
