The project

Approvisionnement de deux villages et une école en eau potable.

The request: 

The communities Volante and Colonia are in the area of Sortova, district of Bugaba in the province of Chiriqui, Republic of Panama. 
These communities have a total of 185 households with a population of 1115 inhabitants of which 608 are male (54%) and 507 are female (46%). This population accounts for 6.7% of the current population of the district Bugaba. In this community  there is a population of 157 children less than a year, and 287 are under five.The remainder are between the ages of 5, and 95. 
Currently this community is supplied by an aqueduct by gravity, which consists of a water source that is shared by two other communities, This results in a decrease in water flow, consequently resulting in water scarcity in all communities so they have to ration it. Capturing a new water source is necessary. This new source will be captured by building an intake structure, then the water will enter the pipeline and be taken to a new reserve tank of 5,000 gallons with chlorinator. From the tank the water will be distributed to the families by gravity. When installed the health of the families will improve, as many sickness’s are caused by drinking non potable water, especially in the children.
The project will solve the water problems in communities Volante and La Colonia , in the area of Sortova , District of Bugaba.
Today this community lacks this vital liquid and does not have an adequate water supply to give a good service to the community, the new project is very essential.
This project aims to provide safe water in quantity and quality , improve quality of life, facilitate the access of water to homes, ensure the protection of the public against risk factors that constitute public health problems using water free of bacteria and pollutants and reduce cases of illnesses associated with to lack of potable water for habitants residing in the area. 
The project covers a distance of about 2.3 kms and includes:
Construction of a water catchment intake; Piping and accessories to carry the water to the reserve storage tank; Construction of a storage tank of 5,000 gallons; Installation of piping and accessories to distribute the water to the families.
