The request:

Dear Jean and Fatima,

Greetings from the San Diego area!

Thank you for your inquiry and yes!  We are something short, $5,400.00

I visited this school in June this year in the city of Phoenix On the outskirts of Durban.
This recent trip was our 5th visit to South Africa. I have guided the Orphans and Disadvantaged Children's Program based in District 5340 for the last 12 years.
The Phoenix secondary school has 960+ multiracial students from severely socioeconomic disadvantaged background. This school has very poor water and sanitation facilities which are fundamental for promoting good hygiene behaviour and children's well being. The students are void of basic facilities such as school toilets, safe drinking water, clean surroundings and basic information on hygiene.
Schools can also be a key factor for initiating change by helping to develop usefully life skills on health and hygiene. Children are often eager and willing to absorb new ideas. New hygiene behaviour learned at school can lead to lifelong positive habits. School children can also influence the behaviour of family members- both adults and younger siblings and thereby positively influence the community as a whole. It is also more cost effective to work with children in school based programs than with adults.
Workshops will be conducted to teach students, teachers and parents.
Club members will be involved in workshops explaining students about hygiene, sanitation and conservation of our natural resources. Menstrual Hygiene Management will be taught to girl students.
Your Partnership would be most welcome and would make the lives of these children more  productive  and place the focus back on education.

Waiting for your answer.

Thank You,

Your Friend in Rotary Service,
