The project:

This project aims to provide a safe, reliable and permanent (sustainable) scalable potable water distribution system consisting of a drilled well, pump(s), piping, water storage facilities and filtration system for a rural community with extremely limited access to clean water in the Caluco community, El Salvador.
This project, with a total cost of $ 130,476.00, will benefit more than 1,500 people.

The request:

From: Bette Miller,        Cornwall Sunrise Rotary Club
To: The Montréal Rotary Club and  Fondation Coup de Coeur

Bonjour Jean and Fatima,

You will recall that when we were at the Uniendo America project fair in Nicaragua, your booth was directly across from the Club Rotario San Salvador Cuscatlan booth. One of their important projects is the attached project that will provide water for two schools and the residents of a remote community. Our group had the opportunity to visit this community and meet with their water committee as well as visiting the school.
Our group usually chooses one major project to support (as well as some smaller ones) and this is the project that was first on our list of projects to support. Now, I’m writing to ask if you can see your way clear to assist us and the Cuscatlan Club to make this a reality. As you know, our District does have some District Designated Funds for matching dollar for dollar up to $15,000 US per project as long as we have the money available to do so.
At the present time, the Cuscatlan Club and Cedar Rapids Daybreak have raised $ 45,000.00 of the $ 130,476.00 needed.  The International Club will be Cedar Rapids Daybreak (District 5970) in Iowa . The nice thing about this is that we, in our District 7040, can be recognized as partners and receive the updates and reports without having to assume the responsibility of writing the reports or managing the various other responsibilities that The Rotary Foundation expects from the International Club.
The Rotary Club of Petawawa, Kingston and Pembrooke have committed funds to this project as will my Club.
It was lovely to see both of you in Managua but now, we await your return to our District.

Kindest regards

Bette Miller,
PDG
