The request:

Dear Mr. Jean Gagnon and Mrs. Fatima Langlois,

I received your coordinates from Fr. André Bilodeau who spoke to me about your Foundation. I am sending you, attached, information about a project to construct a source of drinkable water. Should you require additional information, please let me know and I will send it to you. I will be coming to Canada before the end of September, specifically to the Maison Mère de la Prairie, Collège Jean de Lamennais.
I would love to meet with you during my stay in Quebec.
Thank you in advance for your consideration of this request.

Project description:

The goal of this project is to bring drinking water to more than 3,000 people in the Poko-Amadi sector of DRC.
Around the year 1988, Terre Sans Frontière put in place infrastructure that brought water to these populations, but today the installations are no longer operational and the
need for drinking water is urgent.
The contaminated water that is accessible, thanks to the many transportation efforts of the women and children, makes the population vulnerable to diseases such as intestinal parasites, diarrhea, dysentery, etc. Thus, having access to a source of clean, drinkable water close to dwellings would be the necessary base upon which to improve health and development in the Poko sector.
The village committee consisting of eight people (a president, a secretary, four advisers, a health officer and an environmental officer) will raise awareness and will meet once per month. Those in charge locally will ensure that the local materials (sand, rubble, gravel) will be freely supplied as well as unqualified labourers.
These two elements (materials and labour) will represent the villagers’ contribution to the project.
The longevity of the project will be ensured by the village committee that will have been formed to this effect.
The organization responsible for the project will be the Dungu-Doruma Diocese and the person responsible will be Father Gauthier Tange Mbalia, OSA.
The project manager commits to send you a final report within the month following the completion of the project, by filling out the form and attaching copies of the bills.
